What Happened?

In July, Swedish retailer IKEA received multiple reports of pets getting their head caught inside the entrap of their pet water dispensers. Tragically 2 dogs were killed after getting their head stuck and suffocating inside the entrap.

What Product is Being Recalled?

IKEA is recalling 16,700 LURVIG water dispensers. The LURVIG water dispenser was sold in US IKEA stores between October 2017 and July 2018. IKEA Canada is also recalling 17,767 units as well. If you think you may own one of these water dispensers, check the bottom of the bowl for a article number sticker. The article number being recalled is 303.775.72

The LURVIG product line was designed with the assistance of veterinarian Dr. Barbara Schäfer, who works with product risk assessment at IKEA. The line also includes leashes, beds, toys, and other pet products. These additional lines were unaffected by the recall.

I own a Lurvig Pet Dispenser can I get a Refund?

IKEA is urging all customers to stop using the dispensers immediately and return the product back to IKEA stores for a full-refund. According to IKEA website, you do not need a receipt or proof of purchase to receive the $7.99 refund.
